The amusement park at the Santa Monica Pier is one of the most challenging places for a steel structural painting contractor to go into action. Underneath the decking, the steel support members are exposed to the corrosive action of the salt water waves, while up top, the amusement park rides are subjected to the salt laden spray and wind coming off the bay.
The coating a contractor must choose for the park must weather extremely well and provide superlative protection against salt and other corrosive elements in the water.
The amusement park also presents challenges from the delivery standpoint. To paint the steel support structures, we worked underneath the decking, cleaning the structural members of corrosion, re-sealing them and then covering them with carefully selected coatings that could stand up to the punishment of the sea.
