At the Wilmington Shell Oil Refinery, anti-corrosion coatings are needed inside and out. The outside of the miles of refinery piping are susceptible to a variety of weather conditions that can ruin the metal pipes and shut the refinery down. UV damage, condensation and other effects can lead to corrosion and structural failure. Inside the pipes, the volatile petrochemicals can react with the pipe materials and cause more damage on the inside of the bores.
