On the ground or in the air, large capacity water storage tanks need protective coatings to prevent leakage and corrosion. Inside and outside of a water tank, a range of complex chemical actions are constantly at work, putting the structural materials at risk. Water tank painting lays down a barrier to resist oxidization from the air and chemical attack by the water inside.
A blend of coatings is most often used in a water tank painting project. Zinc primers, intermediate epoxy coats and polyurethane top coats are combined to create a multi-layered jacket of protection for the structural materials.
South Gate Tower is a three hundred foot tall water tower with six support legs, a central feed pipe and interlocking support cables. When the site managers contacted us, we outlined our plans for the structure and worked closely with them to make sure that their needs were met.
We gave the tower a multilayer epoxy coating that will resist airborne dirt and grit, has excellent corrosion resistance and will resist fading.
In addition to the standard blasting and coating required for the South Gate project, we painted a decorative logo for the South Gate Rams. The decorative tank logo featured the use of red and dark blue athletic team style lettering and outlining on the white background of the water tank.
