Protect your investment from the harsh environment
Natural environmental hazards can cause damage to any industrial facility or structure. Water, salt water, sunlight, abrasive wind, and extreme temperatures serve to erode coatings and substrates, with consequences ranging from fading paint to weakening of structural integrity.
At Raider Painting, we know that industrial painting involves more than just appearances. Our services are designed to not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of your structure, but also to protect your facility from the elements. With more than 29 years of experience in a wide variety of commercial and industrial projects, we can capably preserve your investment for years with a single application.
What are corrosion control coatings?
The goal of corrosion control is to seal the substrate against damaging elements that cause oxidation and deterioration. Steel is especially vulnerable to harsh environmental conditions, but corrosion control coatings can also be applied to concrete, drywall, and masonry.
Epoxy coatings are one of the primary types used in corrosion control, largely due to their high durability and resistance to water, heat, and chemicals. With their superior adhesion properties, epoxy coatings can be used for most industrial applications.
Polyurethane and UV protective coatings are also excellent choices for industrial facilities that have a great deal of outdoor exposure. Typically applied as top coats, these strong, clear coatings reflect harmful UV rays and prevent fading, chalking, and deterioration of the epoxy coating beneath.
See our work in action.
At the Santa Monica Pier, we applied corrosion control coatings in multiple areas of the Pacific Parks Amusement Park. This historic attraction is situated in an extremely harsh environment, with high humidity and constant exposure to salt water.
To protect the steel structures supporting the pier and situated throughout the park, we applied phenolic epoxy with a polyurethane top coat. Surface preparation is an essential step in ensuring effectiveness, so we used a blasting technique prior to coating. With limited access to the steel ride supports beneath the pier and between pilons, we bolted scaffolding to the pier's underside for safety, and used encapsulation to prevent contamination of the surrounding environment.
In addition to the ride structures, we coated the crane at the end of the pier with epoxy coating and polyurethane. Here, we also employed full encapsulation to keep contaminants out of the environment and away from the park's guests.
