Storage tanks often involve a more complex coating process than any other industrial structures because of the challenges that come with the tank’s design, size, location, and function. Because storage tanks are naturally complicated to maintain and repair, there is a need to ensure that the structural integrity of the storage tank is upheld at all times, through hiring the most qualified painting contractors to perform tank lining and coating projects.

Many painting contractors can provide tank lining services in different ways, but to hire only the best and the most appropriate contractor for specific tank projects, there are some guidelines to follow:

1. Be wary of low bidders

Examine beyond the monetary gains offered by a low-bidding contractor, and consider the project requirements. Fight the urge to go for the cheapest tank lining contractor for the sake of cost savings. Tank lining projects often entail near-perfect execution prior, during and after the project, which is why there should be no skimping for the right materials, equipment and personnel. Consider if the bidding painting contractors can deliver the requirements and still maintain attractive costs.

2. Choose only experienced painting contractors

Past and present projects completed must be the main criteria in assessing painting contractors’ capabilities. The contractor’s portfolio must include client testimonies to determine their competency. Since tank lining projects differ from one another depending on project requirements, there is also a need to determine the painting contractors’ experience in the specific lining materials that the project requires.

The next blog will talk about the third tip in choosing a tank lining contractor, which is, examining the processes and methodologies that the contractor will use for the project.
