Sierra Silica Silos

Corrosion control for expansive mining facility

At Sierra Silica Resources, a glass silicate mining facility in Oroville, we coated ten 30,000-gallon tanks and silos, and approximately 50,000 linear feet of steel structural I-beams to provide corrosion control. The extensive surface preparation for this project included water and sand blasting, mechanical grinding, and hand grinding in difficult to reach areas. We applied a direct to metal (DTM) primer, which inhibits rust, and a DTM top coat.
